Hey everyone! Well…we did it! Not that we’re finished struggling. We’re just starting in fact but at least, after today, we can keep struggling using the Net. Our statement follows — please feel free to use any way you want. Abrazos, Alfredo —————- Statement on the FCC’s Net Neutrality Vote The Federal Communications Commission has passed a measure guaranteeing the neutrality of the Internet and treating Internet technology as a common carrier under Title II regulations. This is an enormous victory, possibly the largest in the history of the Free Internet movement which organized a grass roots campaign involving millions of people, four million of whom contacted the FCC urging the granting of net neutrality and combined that with strategic lobbying. Large coalitions of organizations that seldom work together were built around the principle, large numbers of people who were unaware of these issues were mobilized. As we have said often, the human race is facing a struggle for its own survival and it can’t win that struggle with a free and fully accessible Internet. Today, our movement has taken an important step in guaranteeing that freedom and accessibility and we are proud to have been part of this movement and in its leadership.
