The best kind of heritage…

… is covered in sugar! We made our annual stop in at the Portuguese bakery in P-town, Cape Code, for fresh, warm malasadas, and a loaf of sweet bread. Notice the painting in the background on the wall… and also I was wearing my Madeiran flag hat for some extra bonus credit.

  1. Mmmm… I want one of those :)!!! The painting on the wall is so familiar! I think it is the same scene that Grandma Lucy used have in the dining room of Dads house near San Pedro Park. The scene was actually embroidered and came from Madeira. The Madeiran embroidery is famous for being practically two-sided as the back looks as good as the front. I think that cousin Val has the piece now or perhaps Lucy’s daughter Marie. But it is the same scene as in your picture. 🙂
