Traveling with Mari

I used to drive from Sacramento to San Diego quite often, and if I planned it right and didn’t drink too much Red Bull and Diet Coke with extra ice, I could make it in just about 7 hours with just one stop.  From Kathmandu, we can be in Thailand (by plane) in six hours, and if we plan it right, make it down to the airport of Krabi and the Malacca Strait in just about the same time.  Both trips offer interesting sites, but only on one can you get fresh coconuts!  (as Mari-chan enjoys below in downtown Bangkok)Image We spent a week in Thailand and another in Japan with Miyoko’s family – really happy to do both.Image

And here is Mari-chan enjoying a giant aquarium in the bottom of a giant department store, also in downtown Bangkok.  We quickly escaped to the beach, to end up near where they filmed “The Beach” with Leonardo Dicaprio, and it perhaps is even better looking than on film (the beach, I’m not sure about Leonardo…)

Plus, Mari-chan got to feed fish – giant carp like you only see in Tokyo!
