36 Hours in Bangkok

We did a very quick stop-over in Bangkok on our way from Kathmandu to Chiang Mai–we’ll be here for the next two months.

After our time in rural India and then Kathmandu, it was a bit shocking to arrive in Bangkok and find clean, beautiful highways and so many Western comforts.  Um, did we arrive in LA by accident?  We only had enough time in Bangkok for a long-boat ride down the river and canals–Eliza was alternately terrified (the boat was FAST and bumpy) and fascinated (lots of fish to feed)–a visit to the playground at beautiful Lumphini Park, where all the expat kids hang out apparently, and eating lots and lots of street food.  The wide variety of delicious tropical fruit is just mind-boggling and don’t even get me started on the noodles and sticky rie….We can’t wait to spend a few more days exploring this fascinating city–maybe on our way out of country.

More soon on all of our adventures so far in the northern city of Chiang Mai!
