We really enjoyed the annual Flower Festival this past weekend–Nate said it kind of reminded him of the Rose Bowl parade, but with less crowds, no security, and chill and relaxed Thai people. Eliza was enthralled with the beautiful flower floats with contestants from various regions vying to be crowned ‘Miss Chiang Mai’. Marching bands and lots of women wearing super high heels (really, in an hours long parade in the high heat?!) rounded out the festivities. Nothing in Thailand happens without pop-up markets springing up selling every kind of Thai and Asian food possible. Nate and Eliza even managed to find hotdogs wrapped in pancakes. Anything for the touristas, I guess. Carnival rides and ice cream for the kids at the park in the old city capped off a fun, but exhausting day!
