Freitas.net should now remember your login now, so you won't have to relogin every time you want to post. Yay!
Make sure you logout if you are on a shared computer.
Since Katie posted a comment on this less awesome version of Facebook (FreitasFamilyBook?) I guess I will too.
Countdown to graduation has begun! 258 days! -Is next year a leap year? If so, then 259 days. :(
Also, cross country is upon myself again and fortunately, after this year I will never have to run again if I choose not to. I can't let my guard down just yet. I still need to race uncle Dave in a marathon one of these years.
This year I have my very own trading card with a neat picture of myself on it! I signed a few cards and handed them to some of the freshman girls. I even put my number on each card for the girls in case they needed to contact me for any reason.
I will be sending home some of these limited edition Upper Deck sports trading cards seeing I have a few hundred of them. If you're interested in having a trading card with a picture of your nephew/cousin on your refrigerator at home/dorm I would be happy to send you a card or cards. I will also autograph each card to increase the value! ;-) All your friends will be jealous for sure. Otherwise I will be auctioning many of them off on eBay for whatever I can get for them. It's worth a try I suppose.
Hi Everyone: Karin called me early Monday with sad news. Betty passed away on Sunday afternoon, apparently from a heart attack. Betty had moved to Chicago a few years ago to be close to Karin & Mike and their fun kids Jack & Clare, and we got to see them often while we were there. Betty lived just a few blocks from them and spent a lot of time traveling around the midwest. For us it was great to have the connection back to Sacramento, and Betty was a big part of the Camp Freitas experience back in the early 80s, with all the people at our house in the summer. She will be missed. You can reach Karin on facebook or drop me a line and I can give you her email / phone. -d.
Our latest road trip (getting 49.6 average miles per gallon) was up to the top of the State of Washington. Planning to meet Christopher and his kids in Port Angeles, we of course looked for the tall white van he usually drives...what a surprise when a really cool 2011 Colbalt Blue Prius with a sun roof and solar cell cooling sytem - stopped by us with Connor at the wheel! Seems it was cheaper to buy a new car than to pay the cost of getting the BIG Sprinter Van on a ferry! We had lots of time to look around at the historical murals, walking through the Rain Forest, soaking at the Sol Duc Hot Springs, picking lavendar at a local farm and ending up visiting Aunt Chickie, Janice and her husband Blair on Bainbridge Island - they cooked a great dinner. After 4 full days with the kids, we spent the night just with Aunt Chickie and then slowly drove down towards home, stopping at MT. St. Helens (go to Johnson Ridge Observatory for a great view); lunch at the Scandinavian Festival and getting home late Sunday! It was a great week and we really enjoyed our well behaved, polite grandchildren.
